SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, USA, May 18, 2024 –
Saturday mornings often mark the beginning of a relaxing weekend. Today, it was an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community. Volunteering for this year’s GOTR was a fulfilling endeavor that brings joy, inspiration, and empowerment to young girls, and a sense of accomplishment and community connection to the volunteers.
BIM Tech Manager Rick Santa Cruz III Encourages the Runners
This year’s volunteers from PASE were Bishal Nayak, Michael Wang, Rick Santa Cruz III, Nino Enriquez, Loc Tieu, and Shelley Huang. Michael Wang and Rick Santa Cruz III sat at the PASE table to greet the runners and introduce them to the world of engineering. Encouraging young girls to become engineers is essential for fostering innovation and diversity in the field. By exposing them to engineering concepts early on, we can spark their interest in problem-solving and creativity. Empowering girls with the skills and confidence to succeed in engineering not only benefits them personally but also contributes to a more inclusive and forward-thinking society.
PASE Volunteers in the Finish Line
When asked what motivated PASE volunteer Bishal Nayak to wake up at 5AM to support the runners, he replies:
Running on its own is a very challenging task. I was inspired that so many young people and their parents took on this challenge! I felt the least I could do is cheer them on at the finish line to reward their daring feats, and as for myself, seeing their sense of accomplishment was very rewarding.
Volunteering for a girls’ race on a Saturday morning was a rewarding way to contribute to the community. It’s an opportunity to support young girls in their journey towards empowerment and self-confidence, while also enjoying personal growth and community connection. We look forward to supporting GOTR for years to come.
