Structural Design of an Assisted Living Community

The Stratford at Countrywood is a full-service independent living, assisted living, and memory care community for seniors. Appointed for an easy, carefree lifestyle. The Stratford presents 103 distinctive studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.

The project includes a single three-story building with three wings projecting off a central hub, where there are community areas including a dining room, living room, kitchen, lobby, offices, and lounges.

The structural systems include manufactured wood roof trusses, plywood shearwalls, wood floor joists, and a concrete slab on grade with spread footings. Lateral load is managed by plywood shearwalls in the wings, and steel moment frames in the open area of the central hub.
